I teach the “Becoming a Love and Logic Parent” program in Brighton and the surrounding area. The program was created many years ago by a local school principal and psychiatrist. The focus is on teaching preschool, elementary and high school age kids to be more responsible for themselves.
In the program lighthearted stories presented on DVD motivate and teach parents to reframe their way of thinking so that problems around the house and school become the kids’ problems, not the parents’ problems. Short, “what if?” exercises with other parents help you to apply the concepts to your family. Parents are viewed as coaches and problems are viewed as opportunities for the child to learn how to function in the real world.
Classes are usually one Friday evening and all day the following Saturday. There are fifteen to twenty people present and snacks are provided. The atmosphere is casual and fun. Paid attendance at one class entitles you to attend later classes free of charge as refreshers.
