Before We Do is a six-session premarital counseling program designed for engaged couples who want more than a one-weekend workshop. The program pairs a comprehensive relationship assessment with structured guided sessions covering five domains that research consistently shows predict long-term marital outcomes: communication patterns, conflict styles, financial expectations, family-of-origin dynamics, and physical and emotional intimacy.
This program is for couples planning their wedding and who want to invest in their relationship with the same care they're investing in the ceremony. It is not a religious workshop, a single-weekend crash course, or a checkbox exercise. It is evidence-based clinical work designed to help engaged couples identify their strengths, understand their vulnerabilities, and establish communication patterns that will hold through the years after the wedding.
The program includes one joint couple intake session, one individual intake session with each partner, and three structured working sessions — six sessions total. Delivered in-person in Golden, Colorado, just off I-70, or via secure telehealth anywhere in Colorado. Dr. John O'Malley, PhD, LPC, NCC, has spent more than fifteen years helping couples in the Colorado foothills build stronger relationships.
